Here is a little-known lighter made by RAM Lighters Inc., a Ronson company (RAM=Ronson Art Metal). I have always wondered if the lighter shown in this Warren Nissen patent existed, now I know with certainty. The mechanism is not working and I have already tried the normal easy solutions to the problem. I think the next step will be to disassemble the mechanism but this will be a little more complicated than taking apart other Ronsons so I am making sure not rush forward blindly...

Hier ist ein wenig bekanntes Feuerzeug von RAM Lighters Inc., einer Firma von Ronson (RAM = Ronson Art Metal). Ich habe mich immer gefragt, ob das in diesem Warren Nissen-Patent gezeigte Feuerzeug existiert, jetzt weiß ich es mit Sicherheit. Der Mechanismus funktioniert nicht und ich habe bereits die normalen einfachen Lösungen für das Problem ausprobiert. Ich denke, der nächste Schritt wird darin bestehen, den Mechanismus zu zerlegen, aber dies wird ein wenig komplizierter sein, als andere Ronsons auseinanderzunehmen, damit ich nicht blindlings vorwärts eile ...

I asked a more experience Ronson collector about this piece. He has an example and said mine is only the 3rd other he has seen. Now that I know this, I am not going to undertaking this repair right away. Because I am not an expert technician, I want to be really careful to make sure I do not accidentally cause harm. ****** Ich habe einen erfahreneren Ronson-Sammler nach diesem Stück gefragt. Er hat ein Beispiel und meinte, es sei nur der dritte, den er gesehen hat. Jetzt, da ich das weiß, werde ich diese Reparatur nicht sofort durchführen. After talking to Russ at Ronsonrepair.com about the 'Apollo', I decided to go ahead and take it apart. Before I did this, Russ warned me he did not have spare parts for these lighters and probably cannot fix the problem.

He has not worked on an Apollo before but told me the likely problems to look for based on the patent drawings. The main springs are numbered #17 and #23. #17 is the problem, the 'clutch spring'. The 'finger' that turns the sparking wheel has broken off the clutch spring. I think this is ironic and a little funny. Even though this Ronson is very rare, it suffers from a very common Ronson problem. Now I am in a familiar situation.

I think it looks similar to the clutch spring used in some butane Ronsons, so I am going to make comparisons this weekend. Does anyone have another idea replacing this flat spring?

Nachdem ich mit Russ auf Ronsonrepair.com über den 'Apollo' gesprochen hatte, entschloss ich mich, ihn auseinanderzunehmen. Bevor ich das tat, warnte Russ mich, er habe keine Ersatzteile für diese Feuerzeuge und könne das Problem wahrscheinlich nicht beheben.

Er hat noch nie an einem Apollo gearbeitet, hat mir aber anhand der Patentzeichnungen die wahrscheinlichen Probleme aufgezeigt, nach denen ich Ausschau halten muss. Die Hauptfedern sind mit # 17 und # 23 nummeriert. # 17 ist das Problem, die "Kupplungsfeder". Der 'Finger', der das Funkenrad dreht, hat die Kupplungsfeder abgebrochen. Ich finde das ironisch und ein bisschen lustig. Obwohl dieser Ronson sehr selten ist, leidet er an einem sehr häufigen Ronson-Problem. Jetzt bin ich in einer vertrauten Situation.

Ich denke, dass es der Kupplungsfeder ähnelt, die in einigen Butan-Ronsons verwendet wird, also werde ich an diesem Wochenende Vergleiche anstellen. Hat jemand eine andere Idee, um diese flache Feder zu ersetzen?

While relaxing and doing some housework yesterday, I had an inspiration. Even though the tab broke on the original clutch, there was still a nub remaining. I was able to tear-and-bend the nub enough to make it functional.

There didn't look to be anything wrong with the closing spring, but it slipped and re-jammed the mechanism after my first successful test fire. So I stretched it a bit and that seems to have cured the problem (fingers crossed).

Als ich gestern entspannt und ein bisschen Hausarbeit gemacht habe, hatte ich eine Inspiration. Obwohl die Lasche an der Originalkupplung gebrochen war, war immer noch eine Noppe übrig. Ich war in der Lage, den Noppen so weit zu reißen und zu biegen, dass er funktionsfähig war.

An der Schließfeder schien nichts auszusetzen, aber sie rutschte und blockierte den Mechanismus nach meinem ersten erfolgreichen Testfeuer erneut. Also habe ich es ein bisschen gedehnt und das scheint das Problem geheilt zu haben (Daumen drücken).
