Britische Pre-Flint-Lampen (Bewick)

I'm trying to identify these lighters and wondering if anyone is familiar with their history and lineage. I've found variations of both shown in "Legend Of The Lighter". The version with the heart-shaped snuffer is shown as an unnamed model on p.29 and uses cap tape for ignition. (My example does no...

Silberfeuerzeuge ohne Marke

The table lighter with curved wick hold is a new purchase. The mechanism is hallmarked as silver, I guess the rest is tin with copper accents? It seems similar to two other unbranded lighters I have, a pocket model and smaller table lighter. There are lots of differences too, so I am not sure these ...

Hi Joe. Thanks a lot! I believe you are absolutely correct about the matchbox holder being the same part that has been modified - or maybe it was adapted for purpose by Berndorf. The fuel tank is encased on all sides by alpaca, so I think this work was done by a craftsman of some type. The parts of ...

Here are some photo of a new acquisition. The fuel tank is hallmarked as Berndorf alpaca, this is the only marking on the piece. I am not certain whether the entire piece is alpaca. Here is another semi-automatic variation of this design I found in the U.S. The lighter is marked as French but is not branded. It is a early, very simple variation of this mechanism type.
