Re: Unknown to me - possible TCW
While I agree that the finish could suggest a handmade one-off, the mechanism for sure is borrowed from "Tempête" lighters made in France 1920s-30s under different marques. I have variants marked Feudor, L'aquilon and Rustic. They are generally taller, the parts are longer, including the u-shaped ro...

I reckon that looking at it from that perspective, I can see the multipurpose tool.

Another thread with alot of expertise! When watching one published here above ( this one ), I found some similarity with the one in my collection I used to believe to be from Asian origin. Any thoughts? European instead? firesteel 1.jpg It misses part of the brass enhancement on the fornt as well as...

My contribution to the topic. Beyond the well known Coca-Cola plastic bottle, others are obscure beer makers promotionals. bottle lighter 1.jpg These two are from the brewery "Caulier" in Brussels, once very famous and recently revived: Caulier can be found again in some shops and pubs (after Covid....

I just noticed that the Colibri Kickstart is also replicated in China currently - to be found on eBay for 15-20€ I'm rather on the side of those not liking those replicas. And actually, as I happen to smoke a couple of cigarettes on certain evenings, I have for many years gone out with original ones...

Pfew! I managed to replace the spring of an RK Imperator, with the help of the explanations here. Re: Bakelit - rund & eckig / Bakelite - round & square
Hello, I have first searched the forum without result, but again maybe I missed the right keywords. I tried with bakelit, that's how I hang my message to the current thread. 20 years ago, I bought in Berlin the illustrated lighter, having noticed it wears a mark typical of WW2 Wehrmacht suppliers. C...

Re: Richard Kohn Imperator... Reparatur und Nervenkrieg
The Duplex Imperator needs a different spring. I just bought a plausible fit, but I have to try. First removal of the hollow pin. Pity I will probably not have any other choice than replace it, as I'm afraid it will come off only by drilling gently one end.

Hello DImitri, I had expected that some more experienced member would jump in with informed advice on replacing the Imperator spring. As I'm facing the same work on two very different ones (a Duplex and a RK), I had first searched thoroughly the forum. The best explanations I found (and so far used ...

I have searched te various threads dealing with the Dubsky Standard - a lighter I like very much, pity I don't own as many variants as some of you do - but mine has a pecularity I haven't seen on the illustrated examples: it's marked "Made in Vienna". Any idea what it would mean as production date, ...

Thorens filling station
When making some use of the petrol lighters, and anyway for the beauty of the piece, at a certain point adding a filling station to the collection makes sense and indeed has some serious appeal. I was lucky enough some 15 years ago as to find a Thorens store desk filling station with pump. It was co...

Re: Unknown semi-automatic machined lighter
Thank you Joe for your hypothesis. I see your point, but it would need somebody well tooled to produce this as a one-off. It is machined, and what you spot on the pictures enlargements are partly traces of dirt, actually remains of polish. If I had to guess the production method, I would say that a ...

I seem to understand that there are mixed evaluations of the Beattie Jet Lighter value and interest. I find it a definitely interesting piece. It is also true seemingly for most lighters, that the price we (I) paid 20 years ago are long gone. Even without considering the famous eBay (non-)seller, pr...
